About

About

Our stud is a family operated farming enterprise, as 3rd and 4th generation farmers that depend fully on farming thus requires long term dollar results and we face the same risks as our commercial clients.

Rosskin Angus Stud was founded in 1983 with the purchase of selected females. Previously running a commercial herd of 200 Angus breeders since 1950 and have been selling bulls privately and at various venues since 1987. In 2012 we made the decision to go out on our own and bring the bull sale back to our property. This year will be our 40th Anniversary.

Martin learn’t to Artificial Inseminate (AI) in 1996. All females have been AI’d ever since by synchronising on their first cycle then watching from day 19 to day 30 during their second cycle, by doing this we are on 85 to 90% conception rate of females within our herd. Our two best sale bulls each year are used to back up our AI programs.

Rosskin is proud of our female herd with 27 years of some of the best genetics infused into our stud. Our 130 Angus breeders are run with merino sheep and fat lamb enterprises. Only the very best females make it into our stud. We have a culling rate of 50% in our yearling heifers for the simple reason we just can’t keep them as most of our aged cows are still breeding at 10 to 12 years of age. Selection of our replacement heifers becomes harder every year.

Our farm area is 1380 hectares and is located on the Monaro, 30km east of the Snowy Mountains. December 2020 saw the acquisition of Middleview, a neighboring property that places our dedication on improving the land and increasing our bull numbers to give our clients a greater selection of bulls.
